Philosophy, Conversations, Exploration
Our monthly Philosophy Meets are on a roll! The gatherings provide a space to discuss topics you'd otherwise not get a chance to discuss. During our most recent gathering, the jump from canibalism to ecosystems, endangered species and languages, and a bit of legal positivism was strangely seemless. We'll be having more of these nights to explore different topics and meet new friends, hope to see you there!
Unwinding with Board Games!
The ICE office is home to lots of board games just waiting for their time to shine. We had three game stations that catered to various types of games that were a perfect blend of fun and strategy; one group finally got to live out their Singaporean Dream, another spent the night exploring long-term financial investments with Splendor, and the other blending strategy and nature with Evolution. We wrapped up the night playing Mafia, where we discovered passionate proponents of the game so much so we're hosting an event dedicated to the game...Mafia Night!
The Art of Jugaad
We finished off the busy month exploring the concept of Jugaad: out-of the box, creative problem solving that youth in Pakistan often employ to handle problems. We started off by sharing meaningful conversations of early personal struggles and how we overcame them. The room was then transformed into a local dhabba, or streetside store, as we snacked on samosas and freshly brewed karak-style chai (bold-flavored) tea. We also had a talented henna artist on site who graciously designed intricate patterns for us.
